I liked Salvatori's. I compare the them to Casa's and Zianos. The SW location is nice. The building is modern and can be a little crowed. The food was very good - probably more like Zianos. The prices were a little more expensive than it's two main competitors. The service was excellent. The food was very good. definitely give it a try if you like local Italian dinning!!

This place has the best Italian food in town! Everything I've gotten is amazing. I recommend the ultimate baked spaghetti and the ultimate calzone. My wife hates Italian food but loves it here. Their sauce is so good and their staff is friendly. I recommend it!

What's??? No minestrone or tomato basil soup?! Was looking forward forward to ia hot bowl of soup so was very disappointed. The only soup they serve is their wedding soup. That's the reason they got 4 stars. Their service is prompt and friendly and the food is one of the best in town.

I was in town for a conference. Ate here with a co-worker. Had Fresh Bruschetta, Chicken Parmigiana and a bottle of wine for dinner. It was clean in taste and the finish wonderful. The only negative I have is that my co-worker ordered stuffed peppers and noticed that the plate came out hot along with the food, which in her experience means that the whole plate was heated, not just the food. She didn't mind the taste but that did bug her experience.

Custom calzone was delicious and so was our pasta. Could not be happier! A must visit if you are in the area and love Italian food. Went with my boyfriend and sat at the bar area and the waitress was great. Authentic food and a great atmosphere.

Been here several times. Food is always very good. Calzone dough is almost like a biscuit. It sounds strange but taste good. Servers are always on top of it. Food usually takes a while to get, but I assume that is because they make the food to order.

Visited Ft Wayne for a Cirque du Soleil show on 11/08/14 & decided to eat here & it was just ok. Had breadsticks to start which the 3 kids loved but were just bland pizza dough. We split a small Caesar and a reg salad which were crispy & fresh. One of the kids had a cup of chicken tortellini soup. She pronounced it delicious. I had the Alfredo Especial-crispy prosciutto & peas with a dash of red pepper flake...so WRONG...it was spicy hot. I like spicy Mexican food & Korean noodles but this was full of pepper. Yuck. A friend got gluten free penne w/Italian sausage & said it was really salty. A pepperoni calzone & kids spaghetti with meat sauce were both pretty good. Not worth the trip from out hotel

This is one of our favorites. If you're reading this and are confused because you're seeing reviews saying this place is attached to a gas station and other reviews saying this place is in a strip mall let me take a minute to explain. The original Salvatori's is attached to a gas station east of the town of New Haven. After several years and multiple opportunities to expand Salvatori's finally branched out and secured a location on the west side of Fort Wayne. Either place is fantastic and you won't be disappointed, although the original location is still special to my wife and me. In any event, don't be deceived by the location of either place. The food is fantastic and more than likely you'll be taking at least some home with you because the portion sizes are on the larger side. Personally, I love the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. If there's a complaint to be had it's only that you can't get it in a half order like you can most other orders. I believe the Alfredo sauce is made in house and it's unlike the sauce you'll get at nearly any other place. I've tried many other dishes here and haven't found one that isn't top of the line. The wait staff is usually on top of things although I have found for some reason the lunch help at the west side location seems to be slower at checking up on you. Not sure why that is or if it's just my perception, but the dinner staff for whatever reason seems to be on top of things a little quicker. In the end, if you're looking for a medium priced meal that will exceed you're expectations you'd be hard pressed to find a place much better than Salvatori's. Enjoy!

We went here for a birthday dinner with reservations. Place was pack but we we're whisked to our table. The water was fantastic, friendly and super efficient. A yelp special gave us a small order of yummiest bread sticks. Portions are generous. Food was super tasty and well presented, clearly this team knows how to manage a restaurant and prepare fantastic food, well done! Price was reasonable and we all left with doggie boxes.

If you are a vegetarian, avoid the spinach ravioli. They use chicken broth in the sauce.

Tried Salvatori's on a Friday night with the boyfriend. It was busy, but we didn't have to wait for a table. Although we did get seated in the overflow room which was uncomfortably warm and missing the character and charm of the main dining area. I ordered the baked penne with the meat sauce and I thought it was really good, I would order it again. We had breadsticks for an app, and well they weren't all that impressive, mostly just warm bread, they weren't buttered, salted, seasoned, etc. Still good, but not great. Our server was friendly and attentive so that was nice. I'd probably check this restaurant out again, but it doesn't top my list of Italian places in Fort Wayne....although I may put it in my #2 spot because I don't really like Biaggis and while Casa's is good, it's also overrated.

I've eaten here twice and the food was good but not as outstanding as I had heard. Large menu and huge portions reasonably priced. Service was good and entire staff was friendly. Would definitely recommend.

We have eaten here two or three times, and have done carry out twice and have found the food just OK. Portions are good, menu variety average. Lots of selections involving sausage, peppers and onions but it would be nice to have a wider range of tastes and favors beyond that and the standard tomato and cream sauces. Calzones usually good, tonight way off. Angelina's tomatoes tasted wrong making it inedible. Sad since that had been a favorite in the past. But our biggest disappointment is the food has been consistently, and across the board way too SALTY - to the point that the whole family has agreed we don't want to eat there again. Service has always been friendly and prompt. Atmosphere decent, who cares if it is in a strip mall? Value for price is good but just can no longer handle the sodium levels. Sad to say we won't be back.

Absolutely fantastic. Went here for lunch, got a salad and pasta and could not ask for better food or service. Food is homemade and was delicious. I'm not a huge stickler about service but our waiter was awesome, and on top of it, the owner came by and asked how our service was. He seemed to genuinely care about the quality of the service, which really says a lot about the quality of the place. The cinnamon roll dessert was one of the best desserts I've had in my entire life - simply incredible. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Food was great. This was my first time there and I was impressed. The chicken Alfredo was killer and thick, just the way I love it. Service was good and fast. I will go back. Price was great as well.

This is a little place. Good food. Great pizza when compared to other Fort Wayne options. We are here for pizza, breadsticks and a little salad, which keeps the whole family happy. Warning though--it is a small joint. Don't let the gas station outside dissuade you from coming in.

The menu looks promising, and they had a lot of options for a vegetarian and someone with a gluten allergy. The food, however, is exactly what you'd find in the frozen aisle of a supermarket. My salad was almost certainly straight out of a bag, and I could get the same thing for 3.99 instead of 13$. At least the pasta was cooled correctly.

Very good food..The Salavtori salad is excellent. We have been there 5-6 times and always get excellent service and food. The breadsticks are expensive for what you get, so we decided to get the Bosco breadsticks. Very good (pricey) but good.Cheese is stuffed inside them. Our favorites are the spaghetti and meat sauce with their Italian sausage ( none better) My Husband gets the linguine with clams and garlic butter sauce. He loves it. They also have some dishes in half sizes which is nice for a smaller appetite.

The food at Salvatori's is unbelievably good. I tend to be skeptical of strip mall locations, but had heard enough good things about this place that I had to try it out. After one visit, it has secured a place in my top three restaurants in Northeast Indiana. Everything we had was spectacular. The only minor complaint I have is that the appetizer portions are a tad small. I could have destroyed the bruschetta all on my own. It was great, but only had four smallish pieces of bread. Entrees come in half and full orders. I tend to be a big eater and it was all I could do to get through the full order. It was PLENTY. No one else in the family was able to finish their meal. I regret that they can't serve pizzas at this location, which is apparently due to a lasting agreement the lessor has with a neighboring Marco's Pizza joint. We'll be back for sure!

The best pizza I have had in Ft. Wayne I have ever had. I would even go as far to say some of the best food I have had in Ft. Wayne. Such a great deal for all you can eat. Great quality sandwiches and pizza. Highly recommend it and I will for sure be coming back.

Amazing! Went here for lunch and got a delicious meal for a great price! If it were a little closer to where I worked, I would visit this place much more frequently. But, I will definitely make a special trip to return. The lunch was delicious!

A little gem of a place in a (truck stop?) strip mall. Kinda hard to see but totally worth looking for. Genuine food & service ---none of that Olive Garden crap. This is great Italian. Love the little salad--such a kick in the taste buds. Nice! My only negative thing is that I don't get to eat here often enough!

It's 9PM on a Friday night. My niece just graduated from high school so my brother, my sister, my brother-in-law and I all want to take her out. Niece doesn't know any place to go. Suggests KFC. I do a quick search on my phone (thank god that we live in the future!) and I find this place, and after asking around, we all shrug and come to Salvatori's. We see it's attached to a gas station. My family expresses worry. I demand we try it anyway. I have a good feeling. We head inside. Low lighting (rather romantic, honestly). An open window so you can see the cooks. Nothing overly fancy, but nothing that makes anyone scream and run in terror. Waitress shows up. One of the nicest ladies I have seriously ever spoken to as a waitress. She's very friendly. Answers everyone's question. Sister wants to know what sweet wines they have. Waitress suggests Moscato (spelling? who cares!). Sister worries because she has a love hate relationship with wine. Waitress says she'll bring out a glass and if we'd like, the bottle. She brings out a glass. Sister and I try it. Sister and I end up drinking two bottles worth of Moscato wine. I and my brother order baked spaghetti with parmesan. Brother-in-law orders linguine with chopped clams in a butter garlic sauce. Sister orders spinach ravioli with a light butter sauce. Niece orders alfredo with shrimp. We all get our food. I find myself pleased that I ordered a half, because even a half order is twice the size of my head. Try to decide just how big a full order would be. Decide that it would feed a family of twelve. Everyone in the whole family RAVES about the food. Brother-in-law in particular is absolutely surprised by his linguine with chopped clams. I try a bite of the clams--they literally melt in my mouth. Not rubbery at all. Niece tries to figure out how come she'd never eaten here before. Family full of gabbers who normally can't shut their mouths for any reason overwhelmed by the decadence of the meal. Silence for the first time in years. I tentatively ask if I can try the cannoli. I've always been hard to please when it comes to cannoli. I love it when it's made right, hate it otherwise. I'm brought out a cannoli filled with jam and ricotta and covered in powdered sugar and sprinkle glitter. I tentatively try a bite. I immediately exclaim: "This is the best cannoli I've ever had!" Rest of family tries a bite (all that I grouchily give up). Rest of family ends up ordering cannoli and cheesecake. Everything is DELICIOUS. Waitress beams as we tell her it's the best desserts we've had at Italian restaurant. Her son cooks it in the back. Seriously: I don't know why this place isn't more well known. I just checked--it's known as one of hte top five restaurants in the area. And I can SEE WHY! Absolutely delicious food at cheap prices and absolutely wonderful staff. Listen to the other reviewers: don't be scared by its location. I want to go back right now and I just got done and they're closed. But oh MAN are they good. If you're on I-69, pull over and grab a bite.

Food was really good. Prompt, attentive service even though the place was quite busy. They could stand to put less sauce on their entrees. While the bruschetta was very good, the bread was sliced too thin and by the time the appetizer got to our table, the bread was soggy and falling apart. Will definitely go again.

After reading a lot of the reviews of this place, I had very high expectations. And I have to say, Salvatori's exceeded all of them! The atmosphere, service, and, of course, the food were all absolutely fantastic. The Abruzzo All Meat calzone is wonderful for any carnivore-at-heart. I would absolutely recommend Salvatori's, and I plan on eating here again!

Salvatoris has recently surpassed Fort Wayne's beloved Casa as the best Italian food for the price in the city. I typically dine at the Illinois Rd location and my food always comes piping hot with friendly, prompt service. Its a pretty basic menu with all standard Italian dishes...Im a huge fan of lasagna as they have an excellent tasting gravy. The Bread sticks are a super tasty appetizer that come with choice of two dipping sauces. Wish they had a better beer selection.

Second trip was much of the same. This time I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. Decent. We also had the cinnamon roll for dessert - it was alright. This place is a 3 star Italian joint bits about on par with the Olive Garden, but don't go in search of fine Italian dining.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
